Printhead Maintenance
Result
When a printhead does not have any nozzle dropouts, the Nozzle Check print will look
like the Magenta 6 Package A and B and Magenta 7 Package A printheads seen in the
example above.
Maintenance for Select Printheads
On the top of the carriage there are 5 ink purge valves. If you have performed printhead
1.
maintenance and find that one or more printheads require additional maintenance, turn
off the valves of all the other colors.
Perform all of the steps for printhead maintenance again, but only on the target printheads.
2.
Note:
Isolating an individual color does not perform a stronger purge, but it does conserve ink.
[178] Purge Valves with Yellow Turned Off
Remember to open any purge valves that were closed for this procedure before you close
3.
the maintenance drawer.
Note:
If a purge valve is left closed, there is no vacuum pressure to hold the ink and it will drip
out of the printhead. Drops of ink will appear on the media if you print with purge valves
closed.
If problems still persist, perform the swab procedure on the affected printhead (see the
4.
next section).
