3.3

COMMISSIONING

3.3.1 Safety Tests on the TC12 Outstation

3.3.1.1 Test Equipment
Multimeter (e.g. Fluke 77 or similar).
Comark Insulation Meter 1905 (or similar capable of 1000 V).
Clare R133R10 Earth Continuity Tester (or similar).
RCD Tester (e.g. Seaward RC500).
3.3.1.2 Safety Considerations
Statutory and Company legislation relating to safety must be followed. During
testing hazardous voltages will be present, only qualified personnel are allowed to
operate the equipment with hazardous voltages present.
Hazardous voltages are present within the equipment - observe any warning
3.3.1.3 Pre-Test Inspection
Check that the correct fuses are fitted to the Outstation (see section 3.4.4 for a
description of the fuses fitted to the Outstation).
3.3.1.4 Outline of Tests to be Performed
The sequence of tests will be:
(1)
Earth Continuity Check.
(2)
Insulation Check (1000 V DC Test).
3.3.1.5 Earth Continuity/Insulation Resistance Test Set Up
The Outstation is not wired to the mains during these tests; however make sure
that the Outstation mains plug is fully pushed into the Outstation mains socket with
the unconnected wires on the other end of the mains cable accessible.
3.3.1.6 Earth Continuity Test Procedure
Connect one probe of the Earth Continuity Tester to the Earth wire of the
Outstation mains lead. Connect the other probe to the following points (it may be
necessary to find a suitable place to test without paint) and make sure the reading
is below 0.5 Ohms:
