USING THE TEST SET AS HANDSET

Exit from any software currently being used on the test set PC. At the C: prompt,
type TERM <CR>. This will activate the batch file LITEMNS.BAT (which should be
in the top level directory C:\ after installation of PITS software), which in turn will
activate the STC handset software.
The handset port on the equipment to which the handset is to be connected
should be a 25 way D-type socket, connect it, to the handset port on the test set,
using cable 667/7/15998/100.
Now the test set PC can be operated in "RS232 handset" mode as a handset for
all equipment with handset ports to DTP specification MCE0141 / TR0141.
Operate with reference to the PITS manual 667/HB/22406/000 and the appropriate
handset handbook for the equipment for which it is being used as a handset.
NB The use of the "Intelligent facilities" i.e. Upload, Download, Guided mode and
Intelligent handset mode is dependent upon the PITS software having built in
specific details about the equipment for which it to act as a handset, and the PITS
manual should be consulted to see if these intelligent facilities are applicable to the
equipment.
