TROUBLESHOOTING

The following problems can usually be cleared by the operator. If the problem
cannot be solved by the following actions, call your service representative.
1. Nothing Happens When the Switch is Turned On
Check the power cord. Is it properly in the main outlet? Plug it in firmly.
Check that all covers are properly closed. See page 45, "When The Close
Cover Indicator Is Lit".
2. The Wait Indicator
is Lit
When the Wait indicator is lit, you cannot start copying. The Wait indicator
lights for about seven minutes after power is switched on. Then the Ready
indicator lights.
3. Bad Copy Quality
3-1. Dirty Copies
Dirty copies might be due to one or more of these causes:
- The copy density is too dark -
Reduce the copy density. If copy density is too dark, images on the back of the
original show through, or shadows appear around paste-ups. For details, see
"Adjusting Copy Density" .
- The exposure glass is dirty -
Check and clean the exposure glass. If black lines appear on copies, the
exposure glass might be dirty. For details, see "DAILY MAINTENANCE" .
If the exposure glass is clean and copies are still dirty, the inside of the copier
may be dirty. Call your service representative.
