Problems with Remote Power On

If you have any problems with the RPO, proceed as follows:
1 Turn on your PC, then turn it off just after the POST has completed.
For example, you can turn off the PC when the Windows NT boot
menu appears or when the message "Starting Windows 95" is
displayed.
2 At this point, RPO is initialized, and you should be able to power on
the PC from a remote console (OpenView or TopTools).
If you cannot power on the PC, check the MAC address and send
the Magic Packet to the PC. If the MAC address is correct, check
the PC setup, hardware connections, BIOS, power supply, NIC,
etc.
If you can power on the PC, then try loading the operating
system. If it stops working after loading the operating system,
then the problem is more than likely with the LAN driver.
3 Remove the LAN adapter from the configuration. Then perform a
search for PCNT and delete all files (there should be 2 or 3) under
windows or one of its sub-directories.
4 Reboot the PC, then reinstall the LAN driver. DO NOT change any of
the options in the dialogue boxes.
5 Shut down the PC, then reboot. RPO should be working correctly
now.
