Check the README.TXT file

There is a README.TXT file in the installation directory. You should
print this file and check the advice given in it. This README.TXT file
will also be displayed on screen for you to read when you perform the
installation procedure on the SMS console.

Notes on the SMS Client

The SMS client (as opposed to the TopTools integration) is installed in
one of two ways. If SMS is configured to modify login scripts in the
Windows NT domain or Netware Server, then the login script installs
the SMS client. You can also install the SMS client manually by running
the RUNSMS.BAT batch file. This file is located on the
\\SITE_SERVER_NAME\SMS-SHR shared directory of the SMS site
server.
This directory is automatically shared during the SMS server site
installation and configuration.
This step of the installation creates a \MS directory on the desktop's
hard disk. Under the root directory of the C: drive, there is a hidden file
called SMS.INI which gathers all the important information about the
SMS client.
You should remember that the SMS inventory is executed only once
every seven days (by default). This means that, even if you boot your
machine 40 times a day, the inventory process is executed only once a
week.
The HP DMI information only appears in the SMS database if SMS has
done an inventory of the client after the file has been created.
Otherwise, SMS does not collect the file.
The SMS processes are batch processes. It therefore takes time to get
all the HP DMI information into the SMS database.
