Hot-Plug Fan Assemblies

NOTE: All hot-plug fan assemblies remove exactly the same way.
To remove a hot-plug fan assembly:
1. Remove the top access panel. See "Top Access Panel" earlier in this chapter.
2. Loosen the thumbscrew
3. Lift the hot-plug fan

Reverse steps 1 through 3 to replace a hot-plug fan.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to the equipment:
I Failed or failing fans should be left connected to the system until they can be replaced.
I If a fan must be removed while the server is powered up, there is a 5-minute period
allowed to remove and replace the fan before the server shuts down. (Microsoft
Windows NT, UNIX, and Novell NetWare)
I Removal of both fans causes overheating and subsequent server shutdown.
