Loading Trays 2, 3, & 4
When paper is loaded into Trays 2, 3, or 4, the user must adjust the width and length guides against the paper
stack. Information from the guides is used to update the printer driver with the media size for that tray. If the
size corresponds to a specific media type, such as DL or C5 envelopes, the driver will also be updated with
the media type. Setting the guides incorrectly causes paper jams because the paper will be narrower or shorter
than expected as it travels through the paper path.
The width and length guides must be set correctly because they detect the
size of paper loaded in the tray.
To print successfully using Trays 2, 3, and 4, observe the following guidelines:
Adjust the width and length guides to the correct position
allows you to visually see how the guides line up with the paper size indictors, which are located
on the bottom of the tray.
Never fill the tray above the fill line (located on the left width guide).
Refer to labels on the tray for the correct orientation for envelopes and letterhead.
Always load media short-edge-feed.
Print custom sizes only from Tray 1 (MPT).
