Clean Components Manually

When the automated cleaning procedures fail to resolve print-quality or paper feed problems, the following
components may require manual cleaning:
Paper Release Blade
Maintenance Kit Wiper Blade
Paper Pick, Feed, and Exit Rollers
Use a lint-free cloth soaked with 90% isopropyl alcohol when cleaning printer
components.
Paper Release Blade
The Paper Release Blade may accumulate ink or other
debris, leaving smears or vertical streaks on the page. To
clean the blade:
1. Open the Exit Cover.
2. Using the handle, carefully rotate the blade upward.
3. Use 90% isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth
and wipe the front and back sides of the flexible
blade as shown to the right.
4. Rotate the blade so it rests on the Drum.
5. Close the Exit Cover.
Maintenance Kit Wiper Blade
The Maintenance Kit Wiper Blade may accumulate ink or
other debris, causing improper drum oiling that results in
print-quality problems. To clean the blade:
1. Open the Side Door.
2. Remove the Maintenance Kit.
3. Use 90% isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth
and wipe the front and back sides of the flexible
blade as shown to the right.
4. Reinstall the Maintenance Kit.
5. Close the Side Door.
Clean Paper Pick, Feed, & Exit Rollers
The Paper Pick, Feed, and Exit Rollers may accumulate ink that smears on the paper. Accumulations of paper
dust may cause the rollers to slip and cause paper jams. To clean the rollers, always refer to the knowledge
base for the latest cleaning procedures.
