Error Codes Review Exercise

1. Locate and record the two most likely failures when the Control Panel displays the message
"POST Failure 11.02.
Check the EEPROM orientation and then replace the EEPROM.
2. After replacing the Media Drive Assembly, the printer reports error code "37,015.40". Use the
Service Manual to determine which wiring harness is disconnected.
The Drum Cooling Fan is disconnected.
3. A Phaser 8400 printer is jamming on every page. The Jam History shows several instances of the
"B3T" jam code. Use the Service Manual to determine which sensor is responsible for this error.
The Preheat Exit Sensor is timing out during the transfix process.

Print Quality Review Exercise

1. Stuck Preheater plate:
Stuck Preheater plates can cause a light, wide band.
2. Defective Printhead Wiper:
A defective Printhead Wiper Assembly can cause a missing jet.
3. Unsupported media:
Unsupported media can cause wrinkling.
4. Dirty Drum Temperature Sensor:
Dirt or debris located beneath the Drum Temperature Sensor can cause loss of detail, such as the
missing thin line.

Printhead Troubleshooting Checklist Exercise

1. What information are you checking for in Step 1 of the checklist?
Look for the evidence of non-Xerox ink usage.
2. If the printer has error code 13,197.4x, name two troubleshooting steps to complete before
replacing the Printhead.
For error code 13,197.4x, reseat the gray Printhead Data Cable and replace the Electronics Module.
3. Which part, when defective, will cause streaks or smudges of ink on the Printhead faceplate?
A defective Printhead Wiper Assembly causes streaks or smudges of ink on the Printhead faceplate.
4. If the Printhead has weak or missing jets, how many times should you run Eliminate Light Stripes
using the Control Panel?
Run the Eliminate Light Stripes sequence up to 3 times.
5. Under what conditions should the Printhead be replaced instead of using Jet Substitution mode?
Replace the Printhead if the customer uses Billing Meters, the missing jets are adjacent, or if the
customer prints using mainly the Fast Color or Standard Print-Quality modes.
