Working with Folders

DOS users: Although folders
correspond to DOS directories,
their names do not have to
conform to the DOS naming
standard––Ensemble folder
names can be as long as 32
characters, and contain upper
and lower case letters.
Y ou can create a new folder
inside any open folder or diskette.
The new folder is empty until you
move or copy items into it.

Moving and Copying a File or Folder

you are dragging.

you cannot move the item to the
destination.
" To open a folder:
Double-click the folder's icon.
OR
Use your arrow keys to select the folder icon and press
folder opens and its contents are displayed in a window.
" To close a folder:
Click on the folder's icon in the information bar.
" To create a new folder:
1. Open the diskette or folder in which you want to place the new folder.
2. Choose Create Folder from the File menu. A dialog box appears asking
you to name the new folder.
3. Type the name for the folder. You can use any characters, and the name
can be as long as 32 characters.
4. Click on Create. The new folder appears in the current folder or diskette.
" To move a file or folder into another folder:
1. With the File Manager application open, select the document or folder
(by clicking once on the icon) that you wish to move.
2. Select Move from the File menu. A dialog box appears asking you where
you wish to move the original.
3. Indicate the destination folder and click on the Move button. The icon
appears in the new location.
OR
1. With the right mouse button held down, drag the icons to a new
location.
2. Release the mouse button. The icon appears in the new location.
