The procedure for removing a small form-factor pluggable (SFP) module is described in the following
sections:
Note
You do not need to power down the router before you remove an SFP module. The router may remain
powered up during this procedure.

Removing a Bale Clasp SFP

To remove a bale clasp SFP module from the access card, perform the following steps:
Step 1
Attach an ESD-preventive strap to your wrist, and to the router or to a bare metal surface. (See the
"Preventing Electrostatic Discharge" section on page
Step 2
Remove all optical interface cables from the SFP Gigabit Ethernet port. (See
Step 3
Open the bale clasp on the SFP module by pressing the clasp downward until it is in a horizontal position
as shown in
Step 4
Grasp the SFP module by the bale clasp and gently pull it out of the Gigabit Ethernet slot as shown in
Figure
