Updating the System BIOS

Use the following steps to update your NEC Versa 6220/30/60 system BIOS with the BIOS
Update Diskette (BUD). Specifically, the BIOS is the code transmitted onto your system's
microprocessor, or central processing unit (CPU).
If you are informed that the default BIOS needs an upgrade, to receive a copy of the BUD
contact the NECCSD Diskette Fulfillment Center at (800) 842-6446, or NECCSD Cus-
tomer Service and Technical Support at (800) 632-4525, Fax (978) 635-4100.
You should only use the BIOS upgrade diskette for your specific model.
Updating the BIOS involves the following procedures:

removing the speaker caps

T
lifting and moving the keyboard out of the way
T
setting the switch
T
reassembling the unit and updating the BIOS
T
resetting the switch.
NOTE
You only need to update the BIOS if NEC
makes significant improvements or fixes to the
current system BIOS. Your authorized NEC
dealer or Technical Support Services representa-
tive can help you determine this.
