Installation and Operational
Plumbing Installation
Virtual Spout Installation
Optional Virtual Spout (VS) is factory installed in the tub wall below water level and intended for use as a tub filler in lieu of a faucet or
filling spout. MTI does not supply mixing valves with the VS.
1. Tee the hot and cold supply lines before connecting to the stub out on the tub
2. Connect mixed supply line to the Wilkins dual check valve (Fig. 6).
3. Water test all plumbed connections prior to final installation.¹
The provided vacuum breaker requires access through the wall and a spill tray (Fig. 7). Special consideration may be needed to
prevent backflow. Check local codes. Some areas of the country require a backflow prevention device above the water line of the tub.

Cleaning System Installation
Fill-Flush® Cleaning System
Tubs equipped with the Fill-Flush Cleaning system will fill through the jets, eliminating the need for a faucet or filling spout. MTI does not
provide mixing valves with Fill-Flush. A Wilkins Dual Check Valve is installed on the system to meet backflow prevention requirements
in most areas of the country.² Check local codes, as some areas of the country require additional backflow prevention. An ACME in-wall
atmospheric vent (AVB) is provided with Fill-Flush.
Fill-Flush Connection
(Fig. 8a on p. 14)
1. Install customer-supplied mixing valves.
2. Connect mixed supply line to brass Wilkins check valve.
Detergent Dispenser / Air Volume Control Installation
Detergent dispenser doubles as the main whirlpool air volume control adjusment device.
1.
Find the detergent dispenser connected to flex pipe wrapped and labeled under tub deck with packaged couplings.
2.
Sever the flex line on the dispenser to install in desired location. Mount the dispenser within reach of the bather.
3.
Shorten flex hose to eliminate any dips in the line between the detergent dispenser and the whirlpool plumbing. Cleaning solution
must be able to flow straight into the rigid PVC fitting at the tub.
4.
Use provided coupling to reassemble flex line. Glue flex line using PVC cement. Allow PVC cement to dry according to label.
5.
Test Fill-Flush and whirlpool operation.¹ Turn air volume control counter-clockwise to increase pressure of the jets.
Hand-Held Shower and Secondary Backflow Prevention (AVB) Installation
Some areas of the country require addtional backflow prevention above the waterline of the tub.² The provided vacuum breaker requires
access through the wall and a spill tray.
IMPORTANT: AVB must be installed inline before the Wilkins check valve.
Check local codes, as some areas of the country require a deck-mounted backflow prevention device.²
1 MTI will not be responsible for any costs involved with removing or reinstalling the tub due to leaks associated with improper drain or valve installation.
² It is the responsibility of the installer to comply with local plumbing codes regarding backflow prevention.
