OPERATING THE ATV

POTENTIAL HAZARD
Frozen control cables in cold weather.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
You may not be able to control the ATV, which could lead to an
accident or a collision.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
When riding in cold weather, always make sure all control
cables work smoothly before riding the ATV.
 NOTE: Check the battery voltage if the ambient air
temperature is below 0O F (-18OC). If the voltage is
below 12.5 V DC the engine may not electric-start.
PRE-RIDE INSPECTION

Starting a Cold Engine

1. Set the parking brake and unlock the steering (take steering
lock key out).
2. Turn the ignition switch to "ON".
3. Shift the drive model select lever into N (neutral)
4. Apply the brake and start the engine by pressing the starter
button.
 NOTE: If the engine fails to start, release the starter
button, then press the starter button again. Keep each
starting attempt as brief as possible to pre- serve
battery energy. Do not crank the engine over for more
than ten seconds during each starting attempt.
 NOTE: If the battery becomes discharged from the
starting attempt, recharge it completely and test that it
is at full capacity before trying to start the ATV again.
 NOTE: Check the spark plug condition if the ATV fails to
start. A weak battery may be depleted faster in cold
weather and cause weak ignition spark. This could cause
gasoline to foul the spark plug at which point it would
need to be replaced. Recharge the battery if you have to
replace a gasoline-fouled spark plug.
To avoid damage to the ATV's electronic fuel injection
system and wiring, do not remove or install a battery wire
when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position.
