5.5.3 Manually Focusable Fiber Optic Lenses

Adjust focus distance
▪ OQ25 and OQ12-E2: Loosen the locking ring a little by hand.
▪ OQ12-C0: Loosen the locking screw a little with a 1.5 mm allen key.
▪ Adjust the focus distance:
- OQ25 and OQ12-C0: Pull or push the rear part of the optics out of the tube by hand.
- OQ12-E2: Screw the rear part of the optics in or out.
▪ Tighten the locking ring or locking screw hand-tight.

to the laser point size: In the focus distance, the laser point shows the smallest diameter.

to optics position:
▪ Optics fully extended: shortest focus distance.
▪ Optics fully inserted: divergent focus distance.
▪ Optics in between: focus distance according to the spot size tables of the
|NOTICE|
Only pull on the fixed part of the opti-
cal fiber directly on the connector to focus, never on
the flexible part, otherwise the fiber could tear.

Spot Size Tables

The following tables show the optical data of the different device types. The values in the tables are exemplary,
intermediate measurement distances must be determined by interpolation. If the measuring distance differs
from the adjusted or specified focus distance, a measurement is also possible, but the spot size changes (usu-
ally it is larger, see
Focus distances at manually focused optics are specified from lens front, at motorized optics from the protec-
tion window.
The specification of the spot size diameter refers to the area from which 90% of the thermal radiation is rec-
orded by the pyrometer.
