13.4 Return signal checking

Especially for long distances, it is useful t o check that the returned
signal is adequate for measurement.
Note : When the light intensity coming back from the reflecting
prism is very high (short distance) an asterisk
"*"
may be
displayed, even for a slight mis-sighting. Therefore make sure
that the target centre i s sighted correctly.
