Under-voltage
E.6 Line Power/DC Input Power Switching
Appendix E, 7124/99 DC POWER OPTION FOR 7124RCU
Once an under-voltage condition is detected on either the positive or negative supply
(most typically as a result of a discharged battery), the 7124 RCU automatically
turns off to prevent damage to the battery. It cannot then be turned back on again
until the applied voltages are within specification. Once they are (e.g. by recharging
the batteries) the unit can be switched on using the battery power-on button on the
chassis rear panel.
As mentioned in the operating procedure at section E.5 above line power should not
be applied to the line input socket when the 7124 RCU is powered via the external
DC input. Similarly when running the unit from line power, the external battery
power cable should not be connected.
To changeover from external DC power to line power, remove the DC Power Input
Cable from the POWER connector, connect the line power cord to the line input
socket, and then switch on.
To changeover from line power to external DC power, first remove the line power
cord from the line input socket, connect the DC Power Input Cable to the POWER
connector, and then operate the battery power-on button.
Note however that if both line power and external DC power are applied to the RCU
simultaneously, no damage will occur.
