5.5.01 Dual Reference Setup Menu

Figure 5-47, Configuration Menu - Virtual Reference Mode
In virtual reference mode, the choices available on the Configuration menu are as
shown in figure 5-47. To leave virtual reference mode and return to single reference
mode press the Exit Virtual Reference key. The remaining controls, including the
sub-menus, operate as already described in section 5.3.15
This completes the description of the virtual reference mode menus.
The dual reference mode allows the model 7124 to simultaneously measure signals
applied to the signal input at two different reference frequencies. The source of these
reference signals is two from the five available options of Internal, External Front
Panel (main console), External Rear Panel (main console), External Front Panel
(RCU), and External Rear Panel (RCU). Hardware limitations mean that if using two
external reference frequencies, one of them is limited to a maximum of 3.0 kHz, and
only one of them can be connected via the RCU (i.e. it is not possible to use both the
reference connectors on the RCU at the same time).
During dual reference mode operation, some of the control and display menus differ
from those used for single reference mode, so these are described in the following
sections. The remaining menus operate in the same way as in single reference mode,
as already described in section 5.3.
When the Configuration menu is displayed, pressing the Dual Reference key
activates the dual reference mode. While the instrument switches to this mode, the
Dual Reference Setup menu is displayed, as shown in figure 5-48.
