8. Operation

The PCS6000 is designed to be operated from external stations. In regular operation
commands and data are sent via the fieldbus interface and are integrated in the overriding
control. This chapter explains only the part of operational actions that can be executed on
the converter itself by personnel on-site.
For application specific information, see "Appendix A04 Operation & Interface Documents,
01 Control Interface and Operation Description".

8.1. Operation conditions

As soon as the converter is unpacked, the environmental conditions for operation apply.
Between unpacking and first operation of the PCS6000 converter ABB suggests to take the
following precautions:
– Weekly visual check of the PCS6000 converter
– Annual capacity check of batteries according EN 50272-1:2001
With the first fill of the PCS6000 converter the auto-maintenance mode starts. From this
moment on the following must be observed:
– Water cooling system must be kept filled
– Auxiliary supply and auto-maintenance mode must remain activated
The minimum requirements for operation are based on IEC 60721-3-3.
– Classification: 3K22 / 3B1 / 3S6 / 3M11
