GENERAL INFORMATION
The rear suspension and powertrain of the vehicle move independently from the vehicle frame. It consists of two leaf
springs controlled by two shock absorbers mounted between the springs and the vehicle frame.

SHOCK ABSORBER INSPECTION AND REMOVAL
1.
Check shock absorbers (19) for damage or fluid leakage at the point where the shaft enters the shock absorber
body. Replace damaged or leaking shock absorbers (Figure 9-1, Page 9-1) and (Figure 9-4, Page 9-4).
2.
To remove a shock absorber, remove the nut (1), cup washers (4), and rubber bushings (3) from the stem at
the top of the shock absorber.
3.
Remove lower mounting hardware (1, 3, and 4) on shock absorber lower mount.
4.
Compress the shock absorber to remove it.

NOTE: When installing shock absorbers, make sure front shocks have identical part numbers and rear shocks
have identical part numbers.
