Ä The output POWER DOWN indicates the sleep state of the device.
Ä Connect input WAKE UP to GROUND to bring the device out of the sleep state.

Input / Output
The scan engine has switching inputs and outputs which provide the following options by using the hard-
ware signals:
• Control the device
• Obtain certain status information
5.3.1
POWER DOWN - Output
The POWER DOWN line indicates the operation state of the device.
• POWER DOWN is asserted HIGH when the device is in the sleep state.
• POWER DOWN returns to LOW when the device is not in the sleep state.
5.3.2
BEEPER - Output
The BEEPER line indicates successful decoding, boot process completion, errors, and other specific condi-
tions or events.
Default behavior of the BEEPER:
• One beep pulse per good read
• Two beep pulses for a successful barcode read configuration
• Four beep pulses if a barcode configuration was not successful.
The BEEPER can be configured to LOW state for a given period of time. Also, the BEEPER can be config-
ured to output a series of beep pulses for a successful decode or for the indication of certain errors.
5.3.3
GOOD READ - Output
The GOOD READ line indicates a successful decode. Upon completion of the decode, the line is asserted
LOW.
5.3.4
WAKE UP - In
The WAKE UP line is used to shift the device from sleep mode to idle mode. The device can be awakened
from the sleep mode by asserting a LOW pulse on the WAKE UP line.
NOTICE
Ä WAKE UP must be HIGH when the device enters the sleep mode. Otherwise, WAKE UP
cannot awaken the device by asserting a LOW pulse
Ä Leave the WAKE UP line open when the device is not in sleep mode. Do not tie the WAKE
UP line LOW.
