SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Owner's Responsibility
Correct assembly and safe and effective use of the cultivator is the owner's responsibility.
• Read and follow all safety instructions.
• Carefully follow all assembly instructions.
• Maintain the cultivator according to the directions and schedule included in this manual.
• Ensure that anyone who uses the cultivator is familiar with all controls and safety precautions.
Read and make sure you understand all instructions in this manual before attempting to operate this machine.
Important Safety Precautions
Read this section carefully. Operate the cultivator acording to the safety instructions and recommendations outlined here and inserted throughout this
manual. Anyone who uses this cultivator must read the instructions and be familiar with all controls. Keep this manual for future reference and use.
• Do not transport the machine from one place to another with the engine still running.
• The tines of the cultivator should not rotate while the engine is idling. If you notice such movement, contact an the authorized service center.
• Dress appropriately when operating the cultivator. Always wear sturdy footwear. Never wear sandals, sneakers or open shoes and never operate
the machine with bare feet. Do not wear loose clothing that might get caught in moving parts. Always wear safety glasses for eye protection.
• Always keep hands, feet, hair and loose clothing away from any moving parts of the machine.
• Do not allow children to operate the machine. Do not allow bystanders to operate the machine without proper instructions.
• Keep bystanders, children and animals away from your work area.
• Never operate the machine when tired, ill or under the influence of alcohol or other substances, to avoid causing damage or serious injury.
• Always check that all screws, nuts and bolts are tight.
• Before any maintaining operation the engine mus be turned off and cool and the spark plug removed.
• Mufflers may become very hot during operation (even in idle speed) and remain hot for a while after the engine has stopped. Contact with skin can lead to
serious injury. Be aware of the risk of fire.
• Do not use the cultivator indoors or in poorly ventilated areas. Flammable vapours or carbon monoxide build-up may be present.
• Carefully inspect the working area before starting any operation and remove any obstacles or foreign objects. Do not cultivate above underground
utilities, including water lines, gas lines, electrical cables or pipes. Do not operate the cultivator in soil where large rocks and foreign objects might be
present to avoid damaging the machine.
• If an object becomes lodged between the tines, turn the engine off, remove the wire from the spark plug and secure, to allow to cool before attempting
to remove the foreign object.
Engine safety precautions
Caution: Danger of carbon monoxide poisoning!
All engines contain carbon monoxide in their exhaust. Carbon monoxide is a deadly, colorless, tasteless, odorless gas which may be present even if you
do not smell or see any engine exhaust. Levels of carbon monoxide, which can be deadly, can be present for days in an enclosed area that has poor
ventilation. Any level of carbon monoxide, if inhaled, can cause headaches, drowsiness, nausea, dizziness, confusion and eventually death. If you experience
any of these symptoms, seek fresh air and medical attention immediately.
Preventing carbon monoxide poisoning
• Never run the engine indoors.
• Never ventilate engine exhaust indoors. Carbon monoxide can reach dangerous levels very quickly.
• Never run the engine outdoors where exhaust fumes may be pulled into a building.
• Never run the engine outdoors in a poorly ventilated area where the exhaust fumes may be trapped and not easily removed.
• Never run the engine in an enclosed or partially enclosed area.
• Always run the engine with the exhaust and exhaust muffler pointed in the direction away from the operator.
• Never point the exhaust muffler towards anyone. People should always be several meters away from the operating engine and its attachments.
