4.2.2. Devices for the LocoNet

The mc² has a LocoNet T(ool) interface to which digital devices can be connected whose data
transmission is via the LocoNet developed by Digitrax. Note: LocoNet boosters cannot be
connected to this type of interface.

Possible applications of the LocoNet input devices
You can use the input devices that you integrate into the digital control system via the
LocoNet interface

to control vehicle decoders for Motorola, DCC and mfx (the latter in m3 format) or

to switch accessory decoders for Motorola and DCC
However, it is not possible to program decoders or configure the digital system using LocoNet
input devices.
Connection of LocoNet feedback units
Use LocoNet feedback units that are galvanically isolated, or take other measures to ensure
galvanic isolation between the system and the feedback unit or mc².
Notice:

If there is no galvanic isolation between the system and the repeater or mc², a short circuit
will occur. This can irreparably destroy one or more of the devices involved.
Power supply of the devices at the LocoNet interface
LocoNet handheld control devices are usually powered via the bus line. Other LocoNet digital
devices such as central units, feedback modules or accessory decoders have their own power
supplies.
! Notice:
The total current of all external digital devices that are connected to the various interfaces of
the mc² and do not have their own power supply must not exceed 1.2 A. Otherwise, the mc²
automatically switches off the power supply for the external devices.
