Fuel (Fig. 9)
Warning: Gasoline is extremely flammable and is explosive under certain conditions.
Caution: Do not fill over the red level line.
• Never use an oil/gasoline mixture or dirty gasoline. Avoid getting dirt, dust or water in the fuel tank.
• Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine stopped. Do not smoke and keep the engine at a safe distance from flames and sparks which can ignite the
fuel.
• Do not overfill the fuel tank (there should be no fuel in the filler neck). After refuelling make sure the tank cap is closed properly and securely.
• Be careful not to spill fuel when refuelling. Spilled fuel or fuel vapour may ignite. If any fuel is spilled, make sure the area is dry before starting the engine.
• Avoid repeated or prolonged contact of fuel with skin or breathing of vapour.
STARTING THE ENGINE (FIG. 10-15)
Caution: Ensure that the clutch is disengaged and that the shift lever is in the neutral position to prevent sudden uncontrolled movement when the engine
starts. The clutch is engaged by pulling in the clutch lever and disengaged by releasing the lever.
1) Turn the fuel valve to the ON position, check whether it is tightened. (Fig. 10)
2) Close the choke lever. (Fig. 11)
Note: Do not use the choke if the engine is warm or the air temperature is high.
3) Turn the engine switch to the ON position. (Fig. 12)
4) Move the throttle lever slightly to the left. (Fig. 13)
5) Pull the starter grip lightly until resistance is felt and then pull it briskly. (Fig. 14)
Caution: Do not allow the starter grip to snap back against the engine. Return it gently to prevent damage to the starter.
6) As the engine warms up, gradually open the choke. (Fig. 15)
