Removing and Replacing a BM

Passive
Optical Shelf
Open the passive optical shelf cover.
Step 1
Disconnect the dual MU connectors from the A-side and the B-side of the BM.
Step 2
Push the retainer button located on the bottom front of the BM.
Step 3
Note
Install protective caps on the optical fiber jumper cables disconnected from the BM.
Caution
Raise the BM enough to pull it forward and out of the passive optical shelf one half at a time.
Step 4
Carefully remove the BM from the passive optical shelf. (See
Step 5
Position two Terminal modules (TM) into the passive optical shelf, one adjacent to the A-side on the far
Step 6
right, and the other adjacent to the B-side on the far left.
Press each TM retainer located at the bottom front of the TM.
Step 7
Snap each TM into place.
Step 8
Remove the dust plugs from MU adapters located on the front panel of the TM.
Step 9
Remove the dust caps from the MU duplex connectors. These are located on the fiber optical jumper
Step 10
cables coming from the adjacent Hub Filter modules (HFMs).
Clean and inspect the MU duplex connectors.
Step 11
Connect an MU duplex connector to each MU adapter to terminate the fibers normally.
