The mobile device used with the Inventory Manager should come pre-installed for

your Epicor Dimensions system. The following instructions are included in case the

unit ever needs to be re-installed.

Note: Re-installing the mobile device should only be done with the assistance of

someone from the Epicor Dimensions Helpline.

Note: ActiveSync download and installation is not required for PC's running

Windows 7. Windows 7 includes a native built-in "Sync" application which

performs the same function as ActiveSync.

ActiveSync is a shareware communications program that communicates between

a Windows PC and Windows CE portable devices. It may be downloaded from

www.microsoft.com

1. Place the mobile device into the charging cradle with the battery installed.

Connect one end of the USB data cable to the Symbol charging cradle and

the other end to an available USB port on the PC. (Make sure that the

charging cradle has the appropriate power supply attached and plugged in)

2. Run the ActiveSync installation program downloaded from

www.microsoft.com. Always accept the default values if prompted to verify

installation parameters. It will not be necessary to synchronize any folders

so uncheck all boxes.

3. Re-boot the PC.

4. Re-verify that the mobile device is in the cradle and turned on. From the

programs menu, run ActiveSync and a program should appear on your

desktop. Select "Connection settings" from the file menu and make sure

Allow USB Connections then select OK.
