Setting up the workpiece
Measuring operation
without collision
6-26
2 First place the workpiece on elastic supports.
3 Then replace the elastic elements with rigid supports.
Metal blocks clamped by clamping devices can be used as rigid sup-
ports. Screw elements can be used alternatively. These can be
screwed into the threaded bushings in the measuring table.
Positioning the workpiece
Position the workpiece so that all required measurements can be carried
out without changing the workpiece position.
When using a changer rack, position the workpiece so that the measure-
ment and the stylus system change can be carried out without collision.
– Position the workpiece such that no collision can occur during the
measuring run.
Do not exceed the measuring volume
In general, the workpiece and the fixtures should be inside the measur-
ing volume.
NOTE
Large and bulky workpieces may project over the measuring volume as
long as the travel movements are not hindered. This is an exception
which requires the approval of ZEISS.
Clamping the workpiece
Workpieces must always be clamped.
– Clamp all workpieces securely in place.
The reasons for this are:
– The workpieces cannot be knocked over inadvertently.
– The workpieces cannot be moved or knocked over by probing or
collision.
Risk of damage to the threaded bushings and the measuring
table due to excessive load.
ü The maximum permissible torque for the threaded bushings in the
measuring table is 40 Nm.
ü When clamping, the maximum permissible torque for the screws
used must be observed.
— Tighten the screws to a maximum torque of 40 Nm.
