262 Driving and parking
Vehicles with Active Parking Assist: when you

are driving at a speed no greater than 11 mph
(18 km/h).
Optionally, obstacles detected by Parking Assist
PARKTRONIC from a distance of approximately
3.3 ft (1.0 m) in front

and 2.2 ft (0.7 m) at the
sides

Vehicles with active ambient lighting and Parking
Package with remote parking functions
Warning Support
When
is activated, the Parking
Assist PARKTRONIC display will also be accompa-
nied by ambient lighting. If an obstacle is detec-
ted, the ambient lighting will light up in the same
color as the display on the central display.
The ambient lighting that accompanies the Park-
ing Assist PARKTRONIC display is intended merely
to accentuate the display in the central display
and does not replace it.

A display message for the ambient lighting will
not appear in the area of the driver's display
or in the rear passenger compartment.

Depending on the selected setting, other
functions may supersede the ambient lighting
effects of Parking Assist PARKTRONIC. In this
case, the ambient lighting effects of Parking
Assist PARKTRONIC will not occur.
System limits
Parking Assist PARKTRONIC does not necessarily
take into account the following obstacles:
Obstacles below the detection range, e.g. per-
R
sons, animals or objects
Obstacles above the detection range, e.g.
R
overhanging loads, overhangs or loading
ramps of trucks
Pedestrians or animals approaching the vehi-
R
cle from the side
Objects placed next to the vehicle
R
Obstacles at the sides will not be shown in the fol-
lowing situations, for example:
You park the vehicle and switch it off.
R
You open the doors.
R
After the engine is restarted, the vehicle will need
to detect obstacles again by driving past them
before a new warning can be issued.

Observe the information on vehicle sensors and
cameras; otherwise, the system will not be able to
function properly (
