Chapter 12: Troubleshooting the Analysis Probe
Intermodule Measurement Problems
Intermodule Measurement Problems
Some problems occur only when you are trying to make a
measurement involving multiple modules.
An event wasn't captured by one of the
modules
If you are trying to capture an event that occurs very shortly after the
event that arms one of the measurement modules, it may be missed
due to internal analyzer delays. For example, suppose you set an
oscilloscope module to trigger upon receiving a trigger signal from the
logic analyzer because you are trying to capture a pulse that occurs
right after the analyzer's trigger state. If the pulse occurs too soon after
the analyzer's trigger state, the oscilloscope will miss the pulse.
❏ Adjust the skew in the Intermodule menu.
You may be able to specify a skew value that enables the event to be
captured.
❏ Change the trigger specification for modules upstream of the one with the
problem.
If you are using a logic analyzer to trigger an oscilloscope module, try
specifying a trigger state one state before the one you are using. This
may be more difficult than working with the skew because the prior
state may occur more often and not always be related to the event you
are trying to capture with the oscilloscope.
