The operator must confirm to the installer that it understands how the system works and its
operating principle and that the system has been accepted ready for operation.
The operator must ensure that, in the event of decommissioning/disassembly of the system,
appropriate replacement extinguishing equipment is available for fighting any fire that occurs.
The operator must designate all extinguishing zones and state that they are equipped with a
fire extinguishing system.
The operator must protect the control room for extinguishing agent against unauthorized
access.
The operator must ensure that the system is used for its intended purpose.
The operator must ensure that only appropriately qualified, trained and authorized persons
perform work on the system.

2.10 Safety and protective devices

WARNING Risk of injury due to non-functioning safety devices.
If safety devices are not functioning or have been rendered inoperable there is danger of
severe injuries and considerable material damage.
• Before starting work check whether all safety devices are functioning and correctly installed.
• Never render safety devices inoperable or bypass safety devices.
• Ensure that all system safety devices are always accessible.
The system has various safety devices that are described below.
Bursting disks
Bursting disks are safety devices that protect a container from excess pressure. If a critical pressure
level is exceeded the disk bursts, the excess pressure is dissipated.
Bursting disks that have burst must be replaced.
Pressure relief dampers
Pressure relief dampers are installed in the exterior walls of buildings to dissipate the pressure
increase or drop that occurs when the system is activated.
