Cleaning

While passing through the recyclers, coins and banknotes leave fibers, residues and dust on sensitive parts in the val-
idation area and on the cash paths. To ensure optimal performance, read here how to clean pay station parts that have
to be cleaned by the user.
6.1

What Has to be Cleaned and How Often?

The POS software or POSlinq™ middleware screen regularly asks you to clean the Paypod™ pay station after a certain
number of transaction cycles according to the relevant cleaning frequency which was chosen to ensure optimal per-
formance of the pay station.
The following pay station components have to be cleaned:
Coin recycler's return cup

Whenever cleaning is needed you will be advised on the POS screen, e.g. through a status message
of the POSlinq™ middleware. Read here

For cleaning work on the Paypod™ pay station please observe the following safety instructions:
Clean only the components mentioned in this section, please. All other pay station parts may
·
only be cleaned by a qualified service partner.
Disconnect the pay station from the main power before cleaning it.

Moisten cloths only slightly to prevent fluid from entering the device. This would damage the
·
electronic boards and optics.
Only use the recommended cleaning agents/tools and do not use solvents or scouring agents
·
that could affect the plastic and optics of the device.
When using compressed air make sure to keep a distance of at least 20–30 cm/8–12 in to
·
the part to be cleaned to avoid any residue or liquid that could wet or coat the recycler's op-
tics. This may result in damaged sensors.
Do not reconnect the equipment if the connection cable shows any damages or material fa-
·
tigue (e.g. porous cables).

the message on the POS screen wants you to clean pay station parts not mentioned in this

chapter.
