Coin Payout Unit
Your customer's change is paid from so called coin hop-
pers [1] in the lockable payout unit. These hoppers collect
one coin denomination each. For each denomination pro-
grammed in the pay station there is one hopper available.
In case of a euro programming with eight different coins,
for instance, the payout unit is equipped with eight coin
hoppers. Currencies with fewer coin denominations are
paid out using larger double [2] or triple hoppers [3] to
ensure highest possible payout capacity. In order that
coins are paid out correctly and according to the Pay-
pod™ coin configuration, each hopper has a fixed posi-
tion. Coin hoppers and hopper positions are color-
coded [4] guaranteeing the hopper positions do not get
mixed up.
Driven by a motor the payout disc [5] of a coin hopper
turns as long as the correct number of a coin is released.
For highest possible payout speed four coin hoppers can
be controlled simultaneously. All coins released fall onto
the return conveyor [6] transporting the coins to the re-
turn cup [7], indicated by the green coin return LED [8].
The coin return cup can be lifted to install a coin transfer
cassette or other emptying mechanisms for coin bags
when emptying the hoppers.
If the hopper sensors detect jammed coins, the payout
disc starts turning the other way round trying to free the
stuck coins.
