Design and Function
3.6.2.4
E22 Banknote Acceptance Unit
If the green status LED [1] is on, the banknote recycler is
ready to pull in banknotes inserted into the insertion/payout
slot [2]. In the acceptance unit [3] the banknotes pass
sensors checking their material, properties and dimen-
sions. When the banknote properties do not correspond to
the properties of the banknotes programmed in this re-
cycler, the banknote is returned through the slot [2]. When
the banknote properties accord with the values pro-
grammed, the banknote is transported to either the recyc-
ling unit [4] or the cash box [5].
Depending on the individual recycler configuration, only
specifically configured instead of all banknotes of a cur-
rency are supposed to be accepted. Some of them might
be disabled and will not be accepted. This configuration
also determines which denominations are to be directed to
the recycling unit or to the cash box.
3.6.2.5
E22 Banknote Vault
The vault [1] protects the banknotes in the recycling
unit [2] from unauthorized access and has to be removed
before the transporting [3] and recycling unit can be ac-
cessed.
34
As an option, the acceptance unit can
temporarily store accepted banknotes of
a current transaction. The POS system
can thus decide on either returning these
banknotes or transporting them to the re-
cycling unit or cash box following an ap-
propriate command depending on the re-
cycler's change stock for instance.
