STARTE R RELAY INSPECTION

R e m ove the seat, head l ig h t cover, battery a n d

fro n t fender. R efer t o page 7-2 . )
•
D iscon nect the l ead w i re
moto r at sta rter relay.
CAUT I O N :
W h e n removi n g the l ea d w i re from the sta rter
rel ay term i na l , d o not touch the wrench to
the other ter m i n a l .

T u r n on the i g n ition switch, i nspect the conti­
n u ity between the term i n a l s, positive and
negative, when push in g the sta rter butto n.
If t h e sta rte r rel ay is i n so u n d cond ition, conti­
n u ity is fou nd.

D iscon nect the two lead wi res fro m the sta rter
re l a y .
•
C heck the coil fo r "open", "gro u nd" a nd o h m i c
resista nce. The co i l i s i n good cond ition i f the
resistance is as fo l lows.

NEUTRAl RElAY INSPECTION
•
R e m ove the neutra l relay fro m the sta rte r relay
h o l d e r.

App l y 1 2 volts to CD

and to ® , and check the cont i n u ity

between a n d with p ocket tester. I f there

is n o cont i n u ity, rep lace the neutra l relay as­
sem b ly with a new one.
