STEERING HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

Characteristics of faults
Hard to make steering
Vehicle steering not stable
Both leftward and rightward
steering slowly
Steering normally when
steering resistance is small;
Steering slowly when steering
resistance is large
Vehicle not steering while
steering wheel is rotated
Steering wheel auto rotates
while driver nor operating
Steering pump noisy and
steering cylinder acts slowly
6-4 Troubles Shooting
Cause
Oil temperature too low
Load sensing oil way blocked
Pressure of steering pump low
Partial bolts for metering motor of full
hydraulic steering gear tightened too
tightly
Flow amplifying valve action is not
sensitive
Regulation valve leaking
Steering pump flow inadequate
Steering overflow valve seat leaking
severely
Steering cylinder leaking severely
Steering gear fault
Steering overflow valve fault
Steering column fault
Full hydraulic steering gear valve
housing blocked
Full hydraulic steering gear spring

Air in steering oil way
Steering pump worn, and flow

Remedy
Increase the oil temperature , then
start working
Clean it
Adjust overflow valve block pressure
according to the regulations
Loosen the bolts
Repair or replace the flow amplifying
valve
Repair or replace priority valve
Repair or replace steering pump
Repair vale seat or replace seal ring
Repair or replace steering cylinder
seal ring
Repair or replace steering gear
Repair steering overflow valve
Repair steering column
Remove impurities in valve
Replace spring plate
Start vehicle, make several times of
leftward/rightward steering
Replace steering pump
Change oil as per correct brands
Fill enough hydraulic oil
Repair cylinder or replace seal
