6.3 ADJUSTING THE CELARANCE OF THE AXLE BEARINGS

• Remove the hub cover (1).
• Remove the cotter pin (2) securing
the castellated nut (3).
• Tighten the castellated nut to remove
slack.
The wheel should rotate with
slight resistance.
• Unscrew the nut (3) (not less than 1/3
of a turn) to cover the nearest groove
of the nut with a hole in the journal
of the axle (the pin's hole is marked
with a black arrow in the drawing).
The wheel should rotate without ex-
cessive resistance.
The wheel should rotate without
excessive resistance. Too much
pressure is not recommended
due to deterioration of bearing
operating conditions.
• Secure the castellated nut with
a cotter pin and mount the hub cover
(1).
• Gently tap the hub with a rubber or
wooden hammer.

CAUTION
Adjustment of bearing looseness may be performed
only when the trailer (without load) is connected to
the tractor.
