4.7 Attaching the short and long sections
of the rear wheel arch cover
Note
The following sequence of operations describes how to attach
the rear left-hand wheel arch cover. The rear right-hand wheel
arch cover is attached in the same way.
– Prepare the power drill and drill bit.
– Set the drill depth limiter.
Dimension -a- = 25 mm
Caution
Be careful to observe the drilling depth in order to prevent
damaging the lines behind the bumper!
The illustration provides an overview of the bonding areas for
liquid adhesive on the wheel arch covers.
A – ∅ 4-mm liquid adhesive bead
B – adhesive tape
– Align the pull-tabs of the adhesive tape on both sides of the
wheel arch cover at a 90 ° angle (as shown in the illustra-
tion).
a = min. 30 mm
– Clean the bonding surfaces on the vehicle and on the add-
on component using isopropanol.
– Roughen and clean any non-roughened bonding surfaces on
the component to be installed.
● The bonding surfaces on the body and the add-on compo-
nent must be completely dry, clean and free from wax and oil
or grease.
– Apply a ∅ 4-mm bead of liquid adhesive.
Note
Make sure that the pull-tabs on the rear wheel arch cover pro-
trude and are not hidden.
