In doing so, make sure that the short section of the wheel arch
cover sits flush with the invisible joint on the bumper.
– Apply a ∅ 4-mm bead of liquid adhesive.
– Apply a ∅ 8-mm bead of liquid adhesive.
– Place and align the front blade against the front bumper.
Note
Make sure that the pull-tabs on the front blade protrude and are
not hidden.
– Place the front blade -1- on the bumper -3- (contrary to the
direction of travel) and gently press the front blade in the di-
rection of the arrow -4-. Fix the add-on components in posi-
tion, using tape if necessary.
Caution
Do not apply excessive pressure to the component!
– Use the two holes -arrows- on the front blade -1- as a tem-
plate to drill the ∅ 5.5-mm drill holes in the rear section of
the slot holes -5- in the bumper.
– Insert the spreader rivets -2- but do not close them yet.
– Carefully remove the protective film from the adhesive tape
in the order specified below and be aware of the gap profile:
◆ Top protective film
◆ Left-hand side protective film
◆ Right-hand side protective film
◆ Bottom protective film
– Press on the adhesive tape using the pressure roller.
– Close all of the spreader rivets on the front spoiler and front
blade.
Note
Pressing on the upper adhesive tape too soon causes the pro-
tective film to wedge and tear.

4.4.1 Preparing the underbody

Required special tools as well as measuring, testing and
auxiliary devices
◆ Removal wedge -3409-
◆ Blunt scraper -5448-
◆ Raise the vehicle on the lifting platform.
◆ When raising the vehicle, make sure that there is adequate
clearance for installation at the side sill.
