Sequence of operations

4.1

Preparations

Note
The add-on components are precision-manufactured and al-
ready primed or painted. The components must be test-fitted
prior to mounting. Non-primed or non-painted components must
be test-fitted according to these installation instructions prior to
any painting procedure being performed (hold components
against the vehicle to check the fit). Mark the outline of the com-
ponents on the bumper and joint using a fineliner pen.
Caution
An adequate adhesive bond strength will not be achieved if
paint is on the bonding surfaces!
The bonding surfaces of add-on components must not be
painted.
Note
◆ When checking if the components are positioned correctly,
pay attention to how the part can be placed and aligned.
◆ Apply the adhesive as evenly sized beads. An accumulation
of adhesive can cause indentations!
– Make sure that the joints between the body and the add-on
components are even -arrows-. Fix the add-on components
in position, using tape if necessary.
– Image -I-: incorrectly assembled. Image -II-: correctly as-
sembled.
– Remove any excess assembly adhesive. Remember to
check the areas under adhesive tape.
– Perform a final visual inspection to make sure that the joint is
even and that all excessive adhesive has been removed.
