No paper feed
Rollers on paper bail out of
(paper jam)
position.
Print head is resistant.
Print head gap is too tight.
Drive gear not engaged
Paper tray too full.
Paper perforations torn
Paper is wrinkled, creased,
missing perforations, or moist.
Paper scraps found in printer
mechanism or around platen.
Printer mechanism is
unlatched (unlocked).
Ribbon is jammed.
Ribbon cables obstructing
paper.
Mask spring is bent or
damaged.
Printer has a glitch not
defined above.

Possible Printer Problems

Solution
Rollers on paper bail should
be one-third in from each end.
Slide print head back and
forth to loosen resistance.
Set print head adjuster to fifth
notch.
Press the drive gear lever to
"engage" position.
Remove some paper from the
paper tray.
Remove torn paper, load and
center new paper, readjust
pinfeed holders.
Replace the paper.
Remove any paper scraps and
do a cleaning.
Latch (lock) the printer
mechanism into place.
Do a self-test with the ribbon
cartridge out of the printer.
Straighten the ribbon cables.
Replace the mask spring.
Do a self-test.
