BlueSky Mast Setup (10)
Positioning the Guy Ropes and Ground Stakes
Proper positioning of the guy ropes is very important. For optimum stability,
the Guy Ropes should extend at least 80% the height of the mast from the
base of the mast.
If the mast is 30 feet tall when deployed, then the guy ropes should be at
least 24 feet from the base of the mast.
If the ground is uneven, you may need to adjust the guying distance to
compensate for the slope of the ground. If the slope is a downward slope away
from the mast, then it may be necessary to guy the mast closer to the tripod. If
the slope is an upward slope away from the mast, then guy the rope further out
or take up the extra slack in the guy rope.
A. Locate the Stake Bag and obtain the hammer and a stake.
B. With the Stake and Hammer in hand, walk out the correct number of
paces from the base of the mast, positioning the stake straight out from
the mast in the same pattern as the guy ropes clipped to the Guy Ring.
Use the hole pattern on the guy ring to orient yourself if you are unsure of
the proper placement pattern.
