The daily duration of use and period of application are generally determined by the physi
cian.
The initial fitting and application of the product must be carried out by qualified personnel.
Instruct the patient in the handling and care of the product.
Instruct the patient to see a physician immediately if any exceptional changes are noted (e.g.
worsening of the complaint).
4.1 Size Selection
► Select the orthosis size based on the lateral ankle joint height or the shoe size (see size chart).
4.2 Adaptation
Selecting footwear
NOTICE
Use without suitable footwear
Restriction of functionality due to insufficient stabilisation
Only use the orthosis with closed footwear, taking the allowable effective heel height into
account.
► Choose a sturdy lace-up shoe with solid heel cup to ensure the optimum effectiveness of the
orthosis. The effective heel height should be between 0.5 cm and 1.5  cm.
Adapting the orthosis
CAUTION
Improper moulding or application
Injuries or damage to the orthosis due to overloading of the material and improper fit of the
orthosis due to breakage of load-bearing components
Do not make any improper changes to the orthosis.
Always apply the orthosis according to the information in the instructions.
Adapting the lower leg strap
The lower leg strap can be fastened on both sides to meet the patient's needs.
► Check the direction in which the lower leg strap is fastened and change it if required. Thread
the strap through the orthosis frame and fasten it (see fig. 1, see fig. 2).
► Optional: Determine the ideal length of the lower leg strap and shorten it.
Trimming the foot plate
1) If the patient uses footwear with removable insoles, take the insole out of the shoe.
2) Mark the size of the foot on the foot plate. Either use the insole from the shoe as a template or
mark the contours of the foot directly on the foot plate with a pen (see fig. 3). INFORMA
TION: Position the orthotic joints on the ankle axis. If the foot plate extends beyond
the heel, shorten the plate.
3) Use scissors to trim the foot plate along the marking (see fig. 4).
4) Smooth sharp edges by sanding them.
5) Check the position of the foot on the foot plate and the position of the foot plate in the shoe.
Rework if necessary.
6) Optional: Place an insole on the foot plate.
