Enabling Vertical Interval Sync
To send the sync signal to multiple enclosures:
1. Attach an external sync source to the master enclosure.
2. Attach a cable to the Loop Out connector on the VI Sync board in the master
enclosure (see Figure 20).

3. Attach the other end of the cable to the Loop In connector on the
VI Sync board in the second enclosure.
4. For additional enclosures, cable the Loop Out connectors to the
Loop In connectors.

Verifying System Recognition of the VI Sync Board

To verify system recognition of the VI Sync board, attach an external serial
control device with a terminal emulation program to the serial port on the
enclosure. The steps below are specifically for using HyperTerminal on a PC;
however, similar devices and programs can be used instead.
To verify that the VI Sync board is enabled:
1. Open HyperTerminal and set the serial port
settings to match the Epica's default settings
(see table to the right).*
2. Reapply power to all enclosures that were
turned off when the board was installed.
3. Enter ~scr! in HyperTerminal.
* If the Epica's settings have been changed from the default since installation, use
the current settings instead.
