Introducing the Epica-128 & Epica-256
Remote Control Panel
All Epica-128 and Epica-256 systems ship with a remote control panel.* The
model of panel shipped depends on the system's audio features. Systems that
include digital volume control ship with a CP-20A Remote Control Panel, and
systems without digital volume control ship with a CP-10 Remote Control Panel.
The remote control panel controls the system's switches and system attributes. It

attaches to the Link (X Net) port on the CPU board. For installation and
operation details, see the Control Panel Instruction Manual at www.amx.com or
on the AMX AutoPatch Software & Documentation CD.
* Multiple enclosures that are configured as a single system ship with a single
remote control panel that will control the entire system.
BCS Serial Control Protocol
A routing system can also be controlled with an external serial controller that
sends and receives ASCII characters via an RS-232 serial port. AMX AutoPatch
has developed a command language, BCS (Basic Control Structure), for
programming control operations and for diagnostic purposes. BCS commands
can be entered into a terminal emulation program (such as Windows
HyperTerminal) running on a PC. For information on BCS commands, see the
BCS Serial Control Protocol section of this manual.

X Net Protocol
Advanced programmers who want to design their own control programs can use

X Net protocol. The AMX AutoPatch Software & Documentation CD includes

the X Net Communication Library, an interface library that supports C, Java,
and Visual Basic with examples of the X
Third-Party Controllers
A third-party controller (such as Crestron) can also be attached to an Epica
enclosure. If using a third-party controller, see the controller documentation for
operating instructions.
