Figure 6: Installation Procedure
To install an Epica enclosure:
1. Install the enclosure(s) in a rack (see page 2-6).
2. Single enclosure – Attach a 50-ohm termination connector to the Ethernet
port.
Multiple enclosures – When linking, attach 50-ohm termination connectors
to the exposed ends of the T-connectors on the first and last enclosures (see
Chapter 3, "Linking Enclosures").
3. Establish communication with the external control device
(see Chapter 4, "Attaching an External Controller").
4. If applicable – For important information on installing and enabling the VI
Sync board, see Appendix A.
Caution: To avoid damage to the connectors and boards from cable weight, we
recommend using lacer bars or some other type of cable management system.
5. Following the "AutoPatch Epica Connector Guide", attach only the first two
source and destination devices (see Chapter 5, "Attaching Inputs &
Outputs").
Do not apply power to the devices until after the Epica has power (Step 6).
6. Important – Follow the power-up sequence on page 6-1.
We recommend using a surge protector and/or an AC line conditioner.
7. Perform a test switch to ensure the system is working properly
(see Chapter 7, "Executing a Test Switch").
8. When the test switch works correctly, attach the remaining source and
destination devices (refer to the "AutoPatch Epica Connector Guide").
