Symptoms - Engine hours do not change, or the value is always zero.
Probable Cause - The Engine ECU is not sending engine hour data to the SMC.
Procedure:
1. Use an engine diagnostic tool and follow the engine manufacturer's procedures
to verify the Engine ECU is sending engine hour data over the J1708 data bus.
2. Compare the engine hour reading on the engine diagnostic tool with the engine
hour reading on the SMC.

If the readings are the same, the fault lies in the Engine ECU.
b. If the readings are different, replace the SMC.
