The first thing you should do when troubleshooting the instrumentation is switch the
ignition on and observe all the gauges during the initialization period. Locate the
general symptom in Table 5-1, then follow the instructions:
General Symptom
Problem with 2-inch gauge.
Problem with SMC.
One or more gauge pointers sweep back
and forth.
Warning message displayed.
No backlighting in SMC or 2-inch gauge
when headlights are turned on.
Select or Reset Button not working.
No message center illumination.
No audible warning, no clock alarm.
