8.1

Safety instructions and requirements

Requirements for commissioning:
– The product is fully assembled.
– The product is aligned and tested.
– The transportation locks for the moving parts are removed.
– The electrical installation is complete and checked.
– The pneumatic installation is complete and checked.
DANGER
Injury or death due to electric shock.
In the event of fault, e.g. wire break or short circuit, the housing may transmit hazardous electric
voltages without the knowledge of the technicians. Touching live parts will result in serious injury or
death.
• Include the product in the equipotential bonding at the protective earth connection of the system.
DANGER
Risk of injury due to uncontrolled movement.
The moving parts of the product move unpredictably and at high speed within the range of motion.
• Before entering the movement range, switch off the power supply or, if necessary, move at low
speed.
DANGER
Risk of injury from unsecured moving parts of the product.
Parts secured with transportation locks break loose and move uncontrollably at high acceleration into
the end position.
• Before energising the product: check that the transportation locks of the moving parts are removed.
Commissioning may only be performed by qualified specialised personnel who are familiar with:
– Festo Configuration Tools (FCT)/Festo Automation Suite (FAS)
– Installation and operation of handling systems
Note the following during commissioning:
– Never disconnect the plugs and electrical interfaces when powered.
– Observe the handling specifications for electro-statically sensitive devices.
– Do not disconnect or connect tubing when the compressed air supply is switched on.
8.2

Limit switch

Proximity switches are mounted as limit switches.
If the position of the proximity switches is changed, observe the following:
– Mark the position of the proximity switches before moving them so the normal position can be reset
if required.
– Observe the tightening torques è Assembly instructions, proximity switch.
– Adjust the slot covers if necessary.
– Check the product for freedom from collisions.
– Check that the proximity switches are correctly positioned with a test run.
