128 Seats and stowing
Turn the emergency key a quarter turn clock‐
#
wise 2 (to lock) or anti-clockwise 1 (to
unlock).
Expanding the load compartment by folding
the front-passenger seat backrest forwards
& WARNING Risk of becoming trapped
when adjusting the seats
When you adjust a seat, you or other vehicle
occupants could become trapped, e.g. on the
seat guide rail.
When adjusting a seat, make sure that
#
no one has any body parts in the sweep
of the seat.
Observe the safety notes on "Airbags" and "Chil‐
dren in the vehicle".
& WARNING Risk of injury due to seat
backrest folded forwards
If the front-passenger seat backrest is folded
forwards, persons in the rear compartment
could collide with parts of the seat adjust‐
ment mechanism, particularly in the event of
an accident, sudden braking or an abrupt
change of direction.
If there is a passenger in the vehicle
#
and the front-passenger seat backrest
is folded forwards, the passenger must
sit on the rear seat behind the driver.
The backrest of the front-passenger seat can be
folded forwards to increase the luggage com‐
partment capacity.
Requirements:
The rear seat behind the front-passenger

seat backrest that is folded forwards and the
rear centre seat are unoccupied.
Folding forwards: pull the release handle
#

and fold the seat backrest fully forwards
onto the sitting surface until it engages.
Folding back: pull the release handle
#
and pivot the seat backrest backwards until
it engages.
